Starry Summer Night
The Centre for Civil Education joins the Culture Night events with the program “In the Starry
Summer Night“. These words from the song of partisans and deportee’s song were chosen to
commemorate the Day of Mourning and Hope as well as to begin a special journey through the
history of deportations and Lithuanian Freedom Fights. Songs, movies and pictures will present
the experiences of deportees and Lithuanian partisans under the starry summer sky.
The program of the event:
18.00 – 18.30 Film screening “Ice in June“ (director Romualdas Kaminskas). Movie in
19.00 – 20.30 Film screening “In the Crosswind“ (director Martti Helde). Movie in Estonian
with Lithuanian subtitles
20.00 – 23.00 Presentation of War History Reconstruction Club “Partisan“: restoration of
partisans’ daily life, ranging from historical circumstances to clothing and living conditions
20.30 – 21.00 The most famous songs of partisans and deportees will be performed by Vilnius
folk ensemble “Sadauja“
21.00 – 22.00 Discussion with participants of the project “Mission Siberia“: the most interesting
experiences and unexpected adventures during expeditions to places of deportation and detention
of Lithuanians. The participants of the event will be invited to write letters to deportees or their
relatives living outside Lithuania
22.00 – 23.40 Film screening “Ashes in the Snow“ (director Marius Markevičius).

Photo exhibition “Beyond the Ural, Beyond the End of the Earth…“ of the Museum of
Occupations and Freedom Fights will be exhibited throughout the evening.
The Centre for Civil Education and the park of the Presidential palace will be open from 18.00
to 00.00. Visitors will be also able to see the exhibition "19490216: Code of Decision" dedicated
for Lithuanian partisans. No prior registration is required.
